Tourist Spot in Udaipur

About Udaipur: Udaipur with its three beautiful lakes and fairy tale palaces is perhaps the loveliest city in a state that has some of the exotic locations in India. Maharaja Jagat Singh II built a Palace in 1754, which covers the entire island of Jagni and is now used as the Lake Palace Hotel. the huge City Palace beside the lake was originally commenced by Maharana Udai Singh, who founded the city in 1657. It is now used as the Museum. Shri Eklingji Temple has been a holy site associated with Lord Shiva since ancient time. Nagda is another famous place where there are several temples dating back from the 4th century AD. The tribal people, known as Bhils, still worship ancient rock edicts, stone inscriptions and simple pre-historic shrines during the Mahashivaratri festival

Jag Mandir

Jag Mandir: In the middle of Lake Pichola is the island palace where Moghual Prince Khurram, later known as Emperor Shah Jehan sought refuge from his father, Jehangir. The tower of Jag Mandir was made of yellow sand stones. It has three storeys. The temple is within the palace, & is dedicated to the Lord of the World.


Jagdish Temple: Built in 1651, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It also has Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, a museum of folk art with rich collection of folk dresses, puppets, ornaments, masks, beautiful dolls, folk musical instrument which are the other places of interest.
